Rakia Reynolds - Chair, Marketing Committee
Since graduating from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, with a degree in International Business and Marketing, Rakia Reynolds has sky-rocketed to success by serving as a “media superwoman” of sorts. She is sought after by companies to provide her expertise in a wealth of subjects and projects like media and art direction, branding and strategic planning, creative development, and producing content for television outlets such as MTV networks and TLC and print outlets such as Lucky magazine. She has been contracted as a media consultant to provide brand development for an NBC Universal affiliate show, serve as a contributing writer and host for an online magazine, blogs, and video producer and publicist for local PR agency, specializing in lifestyle and hospitality pr to name a few.
From event development and brand management, to media consulting and on-air talent, Rakia’s accolades reach far above her undeniable ability to deliver beyond expectation. She currently serves as the President of the Philadelphia chapter of Women in Film & Television and is the secretary of the Philadelphia chapter of NAMIC, the National Association of Multi-Ethnicity in Communications and serves on the board for the Black Lily Film & Music Festival.
In 2007 Rakia Reynolds founded Balahu, a full service public relations company specializing in exposing art and artists to the masses by working with a vast network of clients ranging from designers, painters, sculptors, and aspiring entrepreneurs. She thought outside of the box and provided a forum for her clients and consumers to take a glance at artists behind the scenes and at work through web videos, trunk show events, and the usage of interactive media. The incorporation of interactive media and non traditional public relations has resulted in the success of many of her clients.
She now runs Skai Blue Media which is a full service PR agency with clients that run the gamut of lifestyle PR from a local politician, various restaurants and boutiques, and the South Street Headhouse District. In addition, Ms. Reynolds is called on by local jewelry and clothing designers as a consultant on how to grow local business. Her work has resulted in national, local, and regional media placement.
As the Philadelphia 360 Fashion Ambassador, Ms. Reynolds works with The Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation on heightening the exposure of local boutiques and the Philadelphia shopping scene.
