Christopher Waters - Chair and Co-Founder

Christopher Waters - Chair and Co-FounderChristopher Waters hails from Wilmington, Delaware. Chris has worked in the Governor's Office of Delaware, as a Constituent Relations Officer working on Education and Special Initiatives. Chris has served as the Deputy Political Director for the Jack Markell for Governor Campaign, coordinating the efforts to win the primary and general elections. His has also been the Field Coordinator for the Democratic National Committee. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a B.A. in Psychology. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from Wilmington University as well.

Upon graduation, Chris joined Public Allies Americorps program, where he served Kuumba Academy Charter School as an Intervention Specialist. He returned to Public Allies as an advocate speaking and lobbying in Washington D.C. in support of Americorps program during the first Voices of Americorps in 2003. Chris is a graduate of the inaugural of the Social Change Leaders Program for Greater Philadelphia Cares, where he returned as a trainer, speaker and project coach. He is a co-founder of the Motivote Voter Empowerment Group, which provided forums on civic rights, political forums and voter engagement. Chris is the former External President of Philadelphia’s Young Nonprofit Leaders, during his tenure established funding with the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, The Philadelphia Foundation and a partnership with Independent Sector Coalition.

Chris currently is the Community Development Manager for the Lupus Foundation, helping to establish programs and services in Delaware and Southern New Jersey. Chris is a recent graduate of the Center for Progressive Leadership fellowship program. Chris currently serves on several Board of Directors including the Philadelphia Young Nonprofit Leaders, Trustees of Color and the Penn State Cooperative Extension Philadelphia Board as well as serving as the Chair of Philly MAPP.
